Krav Maga for fitness is Gaining Popularity. Find out why at Lincoln’s only Krav Maga self-defence classes. Book your 30 day FREE trai now on 01522 543 787

The US is in the middle of a national health crisis, and the UK doesn’t seem to be that far behind either. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention have stated that more that one third of US adults are obese. Many people are seeking lifestyle changes, and an increasing number of those are choosing Krav Maga self-defence to burn off their fat.

Krav Maga, which is hebrew for “battle contact”; is the chosen combat technique for Isreal’s military. Does that mean that our instructors stand there in camouflage treating you all as “grunts”, shouting out orders and calling you pathetic and weak? Absolutely not, would you seriously keep coming back if we did? Do we teach you to fight with a rifle or machine gun? No that seems to me to be an inappropriate area of study for the majority of people.

At S2C8 we teach Krav Maga for fitness as well as a realistic, practical self defence system. This means that you learn how to defend yourself or a loved one, it means you study the many factors involved in violence such as environment awareness, weapons, multiple opponents, the physical and psychological effects of fear etc. However there is more to Krav Maga self -defence …. A very fortunate side effect of training Krav Maga is that you happen to get a good work out as you learn. We also make a point of classes being fun as well as education.

So instead of going to the characterless gym where the staff either don’t want to help you or are unable to help. Going through yet another repetitive work out using the machines that are designed to work your body in an unnatural fashion, or doing endless miles on a treadmill or static cycle as you watch VH1 classics. Why not get your exercise as you learn what are vital skills should you ever need to defend yourself, have fun, make new friends. Why not ditch the shiny soulless gym with it’s multitude of mirrors, fake plants and staff that seem to not care and check us out at S2C8. We are passionate about everything we do, we all genuinely care about you, your progress and the fact that you are an individual. We want you to feel welcome, to feel a part of something. In short we want you to be the best you that you can be.

Krav maga for fitness is tough to beat but check out our fight fit and kettlebell fitness classes also. There are no better ways to get in shape.

Book you 30 Day FREE trial, were so confident you’ll love us we offer a 90 day money back guarantee. No catches, no tricks a genuine 90 day money back guarantee.

Please read the previous post first.
Some of the comments that Jermaine made, reveal quite a lot about about the type of person who regularly attacks and robs people. Jermaine first got involved in street crime at the age of 11 and he admits that his main strategy is to put the fear of being attacked into people’s minds way before anything actually happens.
“The way you approach them, the way you’re dressed, you have your hood on – you might have a knife on you, you might not, but it’s about getting that fear into them and once they’re scared they’ll give you whatever you want.”
“I was really frustrated and angry… I just used to walk around with a ferocious temper and you see someone on their own and you’re just influenced in a demonic way where your hunger is driving you and you want money – it’s a want – a lust.”
This gives the attacker the psychological advantage, and would allow them to suss out whether the person they are approaching is going to be an easy target or whether they might fight back. It is very simple for the attacker to read simple body language and to calculate the risk involved in mugging that individual. The mugger doesn’t really want a challenge as all they are really after is financial gain so if that is robbing you of your cash, cards, mobile phone, mp3 player, laptop etc etc. They don’t want to risk getting injured and so will only attack someone who they feel is going to be easy prey.
This is often also the case for the average alcohol fueled attack. It is often started by someone who has had too much alcohol, and is very often ego driven. The cause of such an attack can often be:
1. To impress a girl or friends
2. To boost their ego
3. To boost their “street cred” or what is often incorrectly called respect.
4. Because at some point earlier in the evening something happened that may have upset them or aggravated them, and they can’t let go of that emotion and feel the need to take it out on someone or something completely unrelated, purely because they are feeling annoyed. This tends to also come down to ego, as they feel they have been belittled and therefore need to redeem themselves in their own eyes or in the eyes of others.
This is just a few examples of the different types of attacks and the reasons behind them, unfortunately there are some that are just so random and unexpected that they almost impossible to protect yourself from. At S2C8 martial arts in lincoln we understand these different levels of violence, and we appreciate that our responses have to be appropriate to the level of the threat from avoidance and pre-emptive through to fighting for your life. So we teach our kfm self-defence to be accessible for everybody, so they are educated about not just the physical techniques, but the reasons behind the attacks and the tactics that may be used.
Your safety is your own responsibility, so let us at S2C8 help you begin your journey, as we want to empower you to feel confident and safe, and not just fill your heads with fancy techniques.

‘Zero tolerance’ for knife crime in Scotland

People found carrying knives in Scotland’s town and city centres face harsher sentences under a new “zero tolerance” policy.
Anyone arrested with a knife could be sentenced to a maximum of four years in jail. This has increased the maximum prison term from one year to four years. Thugs carrying knives on public transport or at a bus or train stations are on of the main areas of concern being targeted.
A pilot scheme which operated in December and January has claimed significant success. The pilot scheme successfully resulted in a reduction in the number of cases reported to the COPFS (Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service) compared to the same time period the previous year.
At S2C8 we train and study Krav Maga self-defence and KFM self-defence as well as childrens kewap, and part of this ongoing study is examining the multitude of factors that surround knife crime. Why do people carry knives? Are knives applicable in self defence? Most people know that carrying a knife is illegal and yet they must feel it is worth the risk to cary one, and therefore just ignore the law. Another part of our study is looking into cases of violent crime where a knife or edged weapon was present. What were the motives for attacking someone with a knife? Did the assailant feel remorse for the severity of their attack?
How can this change in law be a bad thing? What we are looking at is tougher punishment for carrying a knife, and not specifically threatening someone with a knife or actually attacking somebody with one.
So.. can this change in the law be a bad thing? Well no it can’t the more things in place to make someone think about even carrying a knife the better, in my opinion. However…… this is far from a complete solution, in fact it is barely a small piece of the huge problem…. To be continued

Martial arts in Lincoln offers 30 days FREE trial and a 90 day money back Guarantee. How can you say no. call 01522 543 787

It has recently been all over the news that a happy disposition will result in success.

This is official research performed under reasonable scientific conditions, however I do think it has come dangerously close to simplifying the matter. Particularly when it concluded that a happy childhood equals a successful adult life.

What does that even mean for today’s parents? What does that mean if little Timmy wants to watch TV and eat chicken nuggets, won’t that make him happy? The truth is that kids don’t know what makes them happy, as long as they have a good time they are happy. As long as it is fun and active they are happy. So what is fun but good for them too? How about video games? How about TV? Not really (fun as they are). How about Martial Arts? Yeah I think so, and that’s where we come in.

At S2C8 Martial Arts Academy in Lincoln we have kids classes every day of the week including weekends. We have fully structured children’s programs, including Little Dragons for ages 5 to 8 and Cadets MMA and Kickboxing for 8 to 15 year olds. It isn’t about fighting, it’s about living well. Our classes are fun and educational. It’s not all kicking and punching either, we cover Road safety, Dog awareness, Internet safety, Water safety, Fire safety and Stranger awareness, all whilst having a lot of fun, guaranteed. Book your free trial now, and fast track your child to the success they deserve.

Former WWE diva Trish Stratus trains Krav Maga

Iconic WWE diva Trish Stratus has gone from kicking butt in the wrestling ring to battling it out with bad guys in her feature film debut “Bounty Hunters”. She is one of many Hollywood stars that now train Krav Maga. Some, such as Trish Status, Jennifer Lopez (J-Lo), Lucy Lui or Angelina Jolie; train Krav Maga for film fighting. Some train it for general fitness because they find it more fun and rewarding than exercise, and others, Such as Ashton Kutcher train it to learn the necessary skills needed to protect themselves and their family and loved ones.

Until now, ‘Shalom’ has been the most widely known Hebrew phrase in the US. But moving up quickly is ‘Krav Maga’, the name of the self-defense martial arts which has taken the US by a storm and is the training regimen of choice of many of Hollywood’s top stars.

Trish Stratus had to look and move like someone who knew how to handle themselves. And because of her wrestling background, Trish was expected to do all her own fight scenes. “I’m a bounty hunter here, so I had to play this badass bounty hunter chick. I realized I had to go back and do some training. I was learning a new fighting art in Krav Maga, which is the Special Ops Israeli fighting [style]. So I knew that was going to entail being physical again and not just acting like a fighter, but being a fighter again.”

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what their initial reasons for beginning training Krav Maga self-defence, what matters is that they all have hugely positive things to say about their experiences. We are confident that what ever your reasons to try Krav Maga here at S2C8, that you will walk away wanting more. We are also positive that if you continue your journey with us you will achieve the goals that you had when you first started.

CALORIE RESTRICTION: HELPING ME TO HELP MYSELF, RIGHT?

Book Your FREE 30 Day Trial and we will assess your goals and promise a 90 day money back guarantee if you do not see results.

You may have recently seen the news coverage of future voluntary food legislation.

Though it is voluntary the planned legislation already has a few large food manufactures signed up to it. The most heavily published of which is ‘Mars’. The Mars company has agreed to restrict the calorie count of their chocolate bars to 250 calories, “Wow”, I’m glad I was sitting down. The immediate question that popped into my head was “are we really so dependent on chocolate that we just won’t fit into our trousers unless the manufacturer helps us?”

I recognise the fact that it probably won’t do any harm and might help people who really love mars bars loose a pound or two, or will they just have an extra one? Who knows? But I do think it highlights the fact that we are looking to someone else for the solution to our problems. I’m not suggesting that we all make spears and loin cloths and go hunting for wild game and berries, but we are responsible for the food we eat. Don’t externalise guilt. So when you think to yourself I wish I could eat healthier, but processed and manufactured food is so quick, easy and cheap, remember that it is your decision and your responsibility, no one else will look out for your health. This also means that no one really has the right to judge you for what you eat, unless of course you feed it to your kids too.

I would like to point out that we at S2C8 do not try to place ourselves on any sort of pedestal, we do however try to be role models, I think it would be weird if we didn’t. We as a team we would like to be approachable about issues such as nutrition and not seen as die hard preachy nutritionists that will look down on anyone who has ever eaten a pizza. So when a very nice lady offered me a sandwich the other day and remarked “I’m sure you can have a sandwich, I’m sure your body isn’t that much of a temple” I immediately became worried about the way we are seen by our customers. We are all here to help and although we all take nutrition very seriously, we are all very human. The whole situation reminded me of an interview with the actor Ryan Reynolds, this is the actor who achieved the superhuman feat of 3.8% body fat, largely by blending Martial Arts into his fitness training. When asked “Do you ever treat yourself or is your body too much of a temple?” he replied “It’s not a temple, maybe a modest church at best, I won’t deny myself the occasional beer”. The interview struck a chord with me, because I love to have a beer or two when I get back from work on a Friday night, and I never feel guilty about it, because I know I have worked hard enough to deserve it. Life is too short not to indulge every now and then, but indulge too much and you will only find it quite a bit shorter.

At S2C8 Martial Arts Academy we are open every day of the week and provide our customers with advice and support in nutrition, fitness and martial arts, we run Fight fit classes, kettlebell fitness amongst other things. We are so sure you will achieve your goals with us, we are offering a 90 day money back guarantee. We will help you make the changes to improve your life and if you really do love Mars bars, we will help you fit them in too! Book your free trial today and start your own journey.

If you want explosive power, a balanced body and flexibility then book your 30 Day FREE trial with us now 01522 543 787

At s2c8 Martial Arts Academy we often hear people say “I’d Like to do more strength and conditioning but I go to the gym too”. When asked what they do at the gym the answers vary but the reason is always the same, Aesthetics. They go to the gym because they want to look good. Nothing wrong with that, but why do most people not consider functional strength and fitness training as a route to achieving a better looking body. Especially when the truth is whether you want to be bigger, smaller, toned or ripped, you can achieve it through functional training, whilst getting fitter, faster and stronger at the same time.

If you don’t believe me, actor Jason Statham famously remarked that he hates traditional gyms and doesn’t want the ‘pretty boy’ look, preferring to climb ropes, flip tractor tyres and train Kettlebells instead. Fair enough, but what if you want to be bigger than Jason Statham? Well how about another actor, the not exactly small, Chris Hemsworth who used Kettlebells to get obscenely ripped for the movie Thor.

It just comes down to the way you train, if you want to bulk up, eat more, add more weight and reduce your repetitions, and at the same time you won’t end up with any of the restricted ranges of movement or muscle fatigue that result from weight training in a gym.

Whatever your goal, we at S2C8 Lincoln will help you achieve it, we are open 7 days a week, and have either a Kettlebell or Fight Fit circuit training class every day. Book your FREE trial now and receive 30 days free and a 90 day money back guarantee.

At S2C8 Martial arts Lincoln we run knife defence classes and street awareness. We also run FREE classes for children on knife culture called KEWAP

Knife attack

A teenager who viciously attacked a friend with a knife leaving him with facial injuries requiring 100 stitches and staples has been detained for 16 years.

An 18 year old displayed extreme levels of violence by attacking his friend’s face and scalp with a carpet fitter’s knife. The judge commented “This was one of the worst, if not the worst cases of the use of a knife to cause serious injury I have ever had to deal with”. What makes this story particularly tragic is that the victim’s family had even previously taken the attacker in and treated him as part of their family.

This was a premeditated punishment attack on not just a friend but a brother, that was all over some missing money. This horrific attack that could have easily have taken a life was caused by cash!?!?!?!? The amount that was allegedly missing has not been disclosed, but I can only ask the question “How much money would it take to make you want to kill someone close to you, someone that you loved?”. Hopefully the answer is you don’t believe there is such an amount that would urge you to potentially take a life. Would money be able to remove the guilt of scaring someone for live bother physically or mentally?? Is money that important to you that you would potentially kill for it?

At S2C8 we believe that happiness and quality of life involves lots of things, and money is rarely one of them. It is the little things in life that we often take for granted that bring happiness and make life a positive experience. Things like the love of family and friends, realising that you have learnt something new and improved yourself. Really simple things like feeling sun on your face, listening to music that makes you wanna dance or sing along or just laughing at your pet doing something funny. We train self defence in order to try our best to understand violence, we attempt to prepare ourselves for a potentially deadly situation. Yet we encourage all our members to be polite, supportive, respectful and understanding. At S2C8 we look through the negative to see the positive in everything. We believe life is good and worth fighting for.

VANITY AND HEALTH:

DEADLY SIN OR MOTIVATION?

Everyone wants to look good. Individual definitions of ‘good’ may vary. Whether you want to be slimmer, bigger, better dressed, have better skin, better hair or better teeth, you may have a very different idea of ‘better’ than the person stood next to you. However the important thing, regardless of the different reasons, is that we are all in the same boat.

Now I would like to make it clear that I do not agree with vanity at the cost of more important values, nor do I agree with the public obsession with body image. However I do believe that minus the TV ads and billboards, minus the magazines and peer pressure, we would all still want to look good. Not necessarily for other people but for ourselves and our own self-image. The desire to look good is instinctual and is undeniably a part of all of our lives.

It is however important to ask yourself why you want to look better and to dissect the goals you have set out to achieve. It is important to ensure that the goal is truly your own and has not been imposed on you by someone or something. For instance you may be interested to know that breast implants are now amongst the most popular graduation gifts in the United States. Now taking into consideration that these girls are no older than eighteen, we must consider the role society has played in making those women self-conscious about their breast size. Evidently some of them may feel absolutely fine about their natural breasts and just want fake ones. Some of them may lead lives blighted by their insecurities and having implants may radically change their lives for the better. However most of them would have simply been made to feel bad about their perfectly natural breasts.

It is therefore important to look at the role of health in body image. Losing weight will reduce stress on our bodies and in turn make us healthier. Gaining lean muscle tissue will strengthen our bones and improve calorie usage and will therefore make us healthier. Improving our diet will improve our skin and immune system and overall will make us much healthier. When looking at body image ‘Health’ is the key word. All of the above actions must of course be performed within healthy parameters. However the list is not exclusive, improving your hair, teeth, clothes, car or inter-personal skills could all have health benefits. Especially considering stress and depression can be major contributors to poor health. However, it must be what you want, not what others have told you, you want. When you are sure that the decision is your own, your own ‘vanity’ can be a powerful motivator towards a healthier lifestyle.
